CLASSES
When are classes?
Classes begin the first Saturday of each month at 11 a.m. with exceptions for Holidays. The next class is always listed in the Upcoming Events section on the left. For more information on classes visit our class list.
What do I need to bring?
Just yourself. We provide all equipment for beginners. You are welcome to bring water or sports drinks if you like, however we do have water fountains and a snack bar at our facility.
Where are you located?
We are located just north or Pendleton Pike and Sunnyside Rd. At the bottom of every page is a link to a Google map. We are inside Sports of All Sorts.
How much does a beginner class cost?
Beginner classes are $60 for four one hour sessions. That's four consecutive weeks (baring holidays and special events).
Will I need to buy my own equipment?
If you enjoy fencing and want to continue, you will eventually. After completing beginner classes we like for equipment to be on the short list of things to do. Talk to your coach or instructor for specific timelines.
Great! I did class. Now what?
What options are available to me after completing beginning classes?
You have several alternatives after completing your beginner classes. They include:
-
Joining the Training Program for your chosen weapon. Programs meet on Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 pm and Saturdays between 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm.
The program provides the hours of training for you as a package. We expect that work commitments, finals, family vacations etc will cause you to miss occaisionally.
-
Join the Recreational program. Recreational fencers meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays after 7:30 pm. Recreational fencing provides an opportunity to fence with no training, warm-up or organized activity.
-
You can do a combination of the above with individual lessons at your convenience (and coach's scheduling). Individual lessons are available on a one time basis or purchased in blocks for greater savings.
Do I have to become a member?
Yes. Your program fees or recreational fees are your membership, paid monthly.
